Back to myself

What a time. I just haven’t stopped working. I hate that my art has been on hold. I have one painting sitting here which I started before Harvey could walk. Shame. Well yes, but so much creative stuff has happened.
On the community front I have started up an Arts Project based at Gold Coast Drug Council called Inter Urban Arts. The project vision is " A city where art, culture and community are valued and embraced as pathways to health and well being"

We have been running a program called DRASTIC which employs amazing young mentors who have overcome adversity to work with young people who are what they say "at risk". I don’t really know what that means just young people who have a lot on their plate. Just being young can be pretty risky. It really is a great program where people can hang out, be themselves and learn about themselves and each other as well as produce some amazing artworks. There is another one coming up on August 22: to register call 0432058158

We also did a Graffiti Prevention mural in Stoner Park in Merrimac. It was a beautiful process, even though I was reluctant at times to fill up all available space in order to prevent Graffiti. I think once I let go of the beauty of the sparseness of the original picture below I was happy with the result. I was so privileged to work with Ian Delaney who is a Nugi and Nunukal man from Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) and Matt Eddlebuttle and amazing stencil artist.

Currently we have secured funding from Arts Queensland to deliver a Public Art Project for Elanora Skate Bowl. It would have to be the craziest bowl I have ever seen, apparently when kids fall in they can’t get out. Neither can the ambo’s rescue people when they are injured!!! That is the word on the street anyway. So once all the problems are sorted out we will get going on the arts project there.
I did a United by Stylz wearable art project and performance for National Y outh Week with a group of young people from Inter Urban Arts and some fantastic arts workers. I promise I will post flix soon. But I need to post flix of another project I did at the same time a sorry business project with YFS in which we painted some Russian dolls

I was asked by Mc Que to exhibit in the She Got Game After Party at the Laundry in Fitxroy Melbourne. I sent Miss Murray Cod but unfortunately did not go myself. I was pretty stoked to show works with Spice and Yoinks who would have to be some of Australia’s best female Graff artists. So it was cool to see little ol Miss Murray Cod there. Check out where it says Miss Murray Cod on the poster!

On the home front things have not been cupcakes and fresh fruit breakfasts, That is something I gotta work on. I have taken some time off to be at home more instead of traveling 200km 2-4 times a week…. I am hoping this will mean, more healthy breakfasts, more quality time with my partner and our bubba boy, a little light exercise, more trips to the park and might even get my 2 and a half year old off bottles and dummies and out of my bed. (I hear a whole mob of mothers sigh in understanding and another mob gasp in horror). So far so good. Despite all the craziness things are pretty good really, they could always be a lot worse and I certainly can still dream about better days ahead with cupcakes and fresh fruit breakfasts.
I have also added some flix of the recent Traffic Signal boxes on the Gold Coast

The original design….

Peace out world
